Welcome

Welcome to the home page for WKTV Community Media. Since 1974, WKTV (Wyoming-Kentwood Television) has established itself as one of the largest community media organizations in the United States. We owe this in no small part to the current hundreds of volunteers in Wyoming and Kentwood along with the city leaders who have made it possible starting on that November day in 1974.

Cable television was in its infancy and no one could have forseen where the technology would lead us, but one thing was clear: city leaders knew that establishing a community channel financed by the cable companies through their franchise fees was the beginning of a new level of interaction between residents.

Today, 50 years later, WKTV is still innovating and creating in new ways with new technology that our original creators could never have forseen. Today we are still operating on cable television, but also operate a thriving and robust community news service, WKTV Journal; a popular social media outlet via Facebook and Youtube; and an entire effort devoted to storytelling in motion pictures. We invite you to join with us on this continual and exciting journey of discovering how community is built through communications technology. Welcome!
